PNW 2011 Ranger Rendezvous - single topic

Don't forget to bring your checkbook or cash to purchase any items in the silent auction Friday evening!!!!! We have over 40 items so far and the list is growing each day. To entice you to participate, we have a number of marinas that have given us free moorages to bid on, plus some great gift baskets as well!!! The boaters have come up with some really creative things that they are donating.

The auction begins at 5 p.m. and will continue until 8 p.m. At 8 p.m. we close the auction. Once the auction has ended, please come to the table to pay for your item. At that time you will receive what you have purchased.

And the 2011 Rendezvous begins! Karma as well as Seoul Survivor II are currently tied up in Bremerton!

Help!
We sent our registration and check to Kathy Wilson early in August. The check cleared our bank as of 20 August, but we don't see our name on the list of attendees. Did we miss the latest list? We plan to arrive mid-afternoon on Friday.

I know you are on the list, because I made up the name tags for everyone who had registered up to and including Friday August 26, and I know I made name tags for you!!

Look forward to seeing you soon!!

Papageno - Yes you're on the list as I just consolidated the "lists" for the Rendezvous.

REMINDER: Bring cash or checks for the silent auction items (sorry no credit cards) and if you haven't paid for registration yet, bring your $15 check or cash for that too.

If you weren't planning to come and now don't want to miss the excitement, come anyway. We can always find room for you to raft with someone. . . . . OR come for the day without your boat. The marina is walking distance from the Bremerton ferry dock.

All names have now been attached to the hotel reservations. You will need to contact the hotel no later than Friday morning with your credit card information in order to secure your room. If they do not receive your CC info. Your reservation will be canceled. While they will have rooms available that you could take, your rate will be substantially higher.......

The following people have rooms:
Bob Pisani
Randy Riffe
Ted Whittier
Frank and Kaye. (Frank, I could not locate your last name. Your room is under Frank Kaye)

The factory has secured seven rooms for a total of 11 rooms. We still have five rooms available if anyone is in need. These rooms will however be canceled Friday morning if no one speaks up.

1. Is the Port of Edmonds one of the Marinas auctioning off 'free' moorage ? That surely would entice me. 😀

2. Heard Nellie II calling on VHF 70 (?) yesterday while I was stuck at 4 kts in very heavy fog in San Juan Islands returning from Roche harbor. I called Nellie II back but got no response... It seems you were organizing a flotilla of Ranger Tugs possibly heading for an early arrival at Bremerton. As we passed by the Anacortes ferry terminal I called for Nellie II again...

3. We had been at Roche with son/daughters and their families who were staying in cabins. They left Friday harbor later yesterday and as their ferry was making its way through the fog blowing its horn frequently and they actually saw us crawling along to one side of the ferry boat and text-ed us saying for us to take care (can't miss our R25 with the Sunset yellow dingy)... radar is good... 🙂 for these sort of weather conditions. Large ferry boats suddenly gliding out of thick fog is very scary. Question... would having the search light on be in any way helpful to other boats without radar seeing us ???? Maybe it could be made to be an orange light at times as that appears clearer in foggy conditions.

4. I have a tech question for Yanmar if they are at Bremerton... I find that I hear a lot of valve chatter (or maybe timing belt noise -- is the timing belt a chain or a notched/tooth rubber loop?) on my R25's Yanmar 150 HP at around 3200 RPM. If I shift the throttle just below or just above this RPM the chattering stops and the engine sound is comfortable. In fact the engine noise is less on my ears at 3400 RPM than it is at around 3000 to 3200. Will Yanmar represent themselves at Bremerton ? They were there last year.

OK... we are resting up for 1 day before setting off for Bremerton either mid Thu afternoon or early Fri morning.

P.S. We met Bela (an R25) at Roche harbor with their 1 year old baby girl with them. They keep their R25 at Friday harbor and live in Portland OR. Their R25 was same age as ours. Their rear most bilge pump was not working and the oil filler cap was somehow lose and had mucked up the engine bay something bad (shame). I had same rear most bilge issue just a few weeks back and Andrew fixed it while we all were at Roche for our start for the 2011 Desolation Sound Cruise. The mechanic working on their boat was not familiar with where things were so I was able to tell him a few things as our R25 was but one slip away from Bela. I noticed that Bela had two extra house batteries -- with extra cables supplied by Ranger. This allowed Bela to stay on the hook for about 4 days... and with a small solar panel charger that simply plugged into the cigar lighter; even longer I suspect. Bela will not be at the Bremerton GTG. I noticed Bela had a For Sale sign on starboard side window -- $129,000. 😱

There was a rave review of the the Bremerton Marina on http://maps.google.com/maps?client=...ge&ved=0CAQQtgM&iwloc=cids:761353531083615764

best marina we have stayed at in Puget Sound. No negatives. Clean, new, modern, secure and safe, great shower facilities, parking, adjacent ferry to Seattle. Port of Bremerton Marina staff are the nicest folks you would ever want to deal with. No jerks on staff! Oh, and the price is extremely reasonable for the slip and utilities. Pump outs and showers are free. Loved it!!! stayed there from October 2010 through mid-April 2011.

Also... here's a YouTube video of the Bremerton Marina... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9x7JivhK8Us&feature=player_embedded

P.S. BTW... I have no affiliation with Bremerton Marina... :|

John and Marie Turner will be arriving on Thursday on John's Folly. We look forward to meeting you all.

That's It,Bella and Stout are snug at LaConner and we expect to arrive at Bremerton around 4:30 tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Sorry Baz we didn't hear you call us on VHF. Yes we had a flotilla of boats from Anacortes traveling together through the fog. We left Cap Sante at 10:00 a.m. ("Willie's Tug", "Adventurer" and "Nellie Too") and spent the night in Kingston. We arrived in Bremerton this afternoon.

Look forward to seeing you and Gill.

We had no fog heading from Blakely Island to Cap Sante and during this stretch I ran at around 15 kts to make up lost time in the fog coming through the San Juans. 😎

If you travelled via La Conner then we were but 3 hrs behind you as we made our way back to Edmonds. 🙂 We found the water at La Conner to be very confused at around 1pm-2pm with swells coming at us from all directions.

If we had left Roche a few hours earlier we may just have joined your flotilla. 😉

Hi, Tuggers-

We were so looking forward to seeing all of you at the Ranger Rendezvous, especially after Neptune took us out of the Canada trip before we could even get started. For the last two weeks, Fernie has been down in Oceanside, CA, helping his siblings deal with the issues confronting them and their aging parents. Growing old is certainly not for sissies! The situation there with the parents is still uncertain - dangerous, in fact. So, he is committed to staying for another 10 days at least.

So we send best wishes, hoping you have the most wonderful time! We will miss you!

Fernie and Sunny Martinez

Dave: Thanks for your kind offer!

Sunny and Fernie,

Wolf Pack's prayers and thoughts are with you and Fernie for his family. We will miss you both this year.

Sunny and Fernie,
We too will miss you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. It is hard to know what is right when dealing with parents.

When Fernie gets back, let's meet for lunch some day.

It's late on Thursday night and we have 36 boats here already plus another 6 factory boats! It is quite a sight. . . . .We know that about another 25 will be arriving tomorrow. The weather is fabulous, the conversations great, with lots of laughter and good boat stories. Tomorrow is the owner's forums and we're all very excited!

To Blessings - we'll miss you and think of you this weekend.

To the boaters that plan to arrive on Friday or Saturday - don't forget to call channel 68 when you get close for docking instructions.
