PNW 2011 Ranger Rendezvous - single topic

Oops. 😱 I mis-stated the boats coming from Salt Spring's intensely concentrated Ranger Armada. Stout, That's It and Bella, David and Joanna Southwell's 29, will attend. The Laidlaws have a grandchild arriving at the time of the rendezvous and send their regrets. Allan.

Salt Spring Tugs are 3 25's, 1 29 and a 27....I might wager that we have the most Rangers per square mile based on residence of the owners......but I could be wrong!!!

Gail

Just checked in with my Edmonds Marina operations manager and she said her last count was 10 Ranger Tugs registered. She also said that two of the R29s recently left -- one for the east coast and one for the Lake, and I assume "Lake" meant Lake Washington. So she has asked the periodic security guard to verify the tug population on his next round... 😀

Bruce Moore has a map facility for tug owners to indicate where they are moored etc. Maybe we can use this as the basis for any claims being made here.

The only tug shown at Salt Springs on Bruce's map is "That's IT" and the only one shown at Edmonds Marina is "Laxey". WE must make the effort for other tug owners to place themselves on Bruce's map.... 😎

Hi Laurie!

A quick correction in the listing of boats: please add "29" to "Island Ranger" for our boat name (#39 in the list). The name will then read "Island Ranger 29" and be differentiated from Mac and Linda's Island Ranger.

We plan on arriving on Thursday, Sept 8. Registration form is on its way.

We look forward to re-connecting and meeting new owners.

Thank you!

Rich and Shirley

Thank you Allan for the update, I will update the registration list. And Congratulation to the Laidlaws, we will miss them.
See everyone in a few weeks.

Hi Rich and Shirley
We look forward to seeing you, as soon as I receive the registration, I will send you an email, so you know I received it. We will fix the name Island Ranger 29.

When arriving at Bremerton is there a designated radio channel for us to call on to get advice on where to dock etc ?

Barry -

We're putting together the final details including this information and it will all be posted after our last committee meeting on Sept. 2. I'll post all the last details here shortly after that.

Laurie

Thanks to all that have sent in their registrations for the PNW Rendezvous! If you have told us you're coming and haven't sent that in yet please do so asap and send it to Kathy Wilson. See the topic thread under registration for the form.

We are working on the last minute details and will post more details after this Friday's last committee meeting. Start pulling out your parrotville attire for Friday night, crafts for the craft fair, let Bob and Nita know about any silent auction items you're bringing, veggies for the veggie race, books and recipes to share, and be ready to have a GREAT time.

Laurie

I have to tell all of you how exciting this whole event is turning into:

There are a record number of boats coming
Owners from several states are flying in
11 back-to-back owner's forums on Friday spanning a wide range of interests
Entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights
Incredible food provided by wonderful people (they know who they are)
A record number of vendors coming to answer questions on Saturday
Gifts for all
A silent auction of cool stuff to benefit a good cause
A large number of employees from the factory to join in the fun
Demos of the new boats

This more than a just a regional rendezvous, this is a national gathering of wonderful people.

And, the Bremerton Marina is being an excellent host

The deadline for to sending in your registration is fast approaching, if you are on the fence, you need to decide. If you are not coming, you are going to miss something really, really special.

Watch this tread for more last minute details like docking instructions.

So, we just bought our 2010 25SC a month ago, found out about the rendezvous sometime after that, and are still trying to figure out if we can come, but I am sending in our registration anyway, in hopes that we will make it. Our boat is Blue Yonder, located in Seattle.

When you come to the Bremerton Marina for the Rendezvous, please use these instructions because we have up to 70 boats coming with most coming on Thursday and Friday:

1. Once you can see the breakwater of the marina, which is close to the Washington State Ferry Terminal, switch your VHF radio to CHANNEL 68
2. Say, "Ranger Rendezvous, Ranger Rendezvous this is ________(your boat's name)"
3. Me or one of my trusted and trained dockmasters will answer you with, "This is Ranger Rendezvous, what is the length of your vessel?"
4. The length of your vessel tells us what part of the marina to direct you to. The Ranger 25's and 27's and the Cutwater's will be on the inside of the breakwater. The Ranger 29's and a few of the Ranger 21's will be on the finger piers that are close to the breakwater.
5. As you go around the breakwater, look for the dockmasters wearing the orange reflective vests as they will guide you and talk to you about where to go. There are NO assigned spaces. You will be assigned to the next available space. It will be your choice to turn your boat around to dock on a specific side.
6. The dockmasters will provide assistance in initially securing your boat to the cleats. The final tie up is on you.
7. Then, you must go to the marina office to pay your moorage fee with the Port of Bremerton before you register for the Rendezvous.

See you soon!

Hello!
The Salt Spring Island contingent will be arriving in Bremerton on Thursday afternoon. This will be Patrick and Gail Beattie on "That's It," Kim and Karen Laidlaw on "Nest Egg," and Allan and Yvonne Bogutz on "Stout." Will reservations be made for our arrival? We are 25, 27 and 25 respectively, length not age.

Salt Spring now has FIVE Ranger Tugs, probably the largest concentration per square mile anywhere.

We are looking forward to the trip and the Rendezvous.

Allan

Allan,
You forgot David and Joanna Southwell on Bella (R29) will also be part of the SaltSpring contingent!

David

You need to read on David; I made the correction and am so glad you are coming!!!!

Salt Springers will show their colours.

Allan

Allan
Is Kim and Karen Laidlaw on Nest Egg coming? We thought they weren't since they were having a grandchild. Please let us know. Thanks.

The Laidlaws are not coming .... That was my error,
. Salt Spring will be represented by the Southwells, the Beatties and us. Sorry to confuse . Allan.

We met up with Jim & Lisa Favors on their new red R27 "Kismet" in Roche Harbor yesterday. They indicated they will be at the Bremerton GTG. While they were docked I got concerned as I saw water continuously coming out of a port side outlet. When I mentioned this Lisa said it was the A/C unit, and didn't I have one also. 😉

Apparently Kismet is destined for Florida waters. 😀

I hope fog in the San Juan islands does not cause us to be late to the Bremerton GTG.

The weather here at Roche is glorious.

See y'all shortly...

Very envious of you folks on the Left Coast!! Do you have any awards for the "oldest tug"? Taking a look at this one

http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/boa/2577653727.html

for rebuilding and getting to next year's gathering!! Just jesting actually, Sally would kill me if I bought another boat!

It is an interesting project boat however. No place to put the wine cooler that I can see....

Is there a preliminary activity list (with dates and times) available. Arrival time will be tight, but do not want to miss anything.

Some boats are arriving on Thursday and the plan is for an informal potluck to start at 5 pm on the dock.

Friday is full of boats arriving throughout the day, along with Owner Forums both on the dock and in a meeting room at the Hampton Inn. The forums will run about every hour from 10 - 4 pm and I believe there are about ten different topics. Look for information about these when you arrive on Friday.

Friday evening the Margarita machine starts about 5 pm with live entertainment and food about 6 pm.

Be sure to read the information above for arrival and docking instructions.

Looking forward to seeing SO many boats. The latest number indicates about 55 boats plus 6 factory boats, plus a number of people staying at the Hampton Inn. See you this weekend in the sunshine!
