Battery Jumper
This allows a shore power charger set up for only one battery to maintain [I]both batteries providing they are not too far out of level when the jumper is attached. I use it [I]only when I know both batteries are well charged and the charger is plugged in to shore power. Note that it is only necessary to jump the two [I]positive terminals since the negative terminals are bonded by the factory.
A much lighter cable could have been used to just do the above. But another important use is to allow using the house battery to jump-start the engine if the start battery has died while doing an initial start after launching or while on the water. That requires cable of a size at least as large as normal jumper cables.
