Oil Change on Shearwater IV 4BY2

R25 Thruster

The R25 thruster replacement is the most difficult repair on my R25. These pictures make it difficult, but not impossible.

Relocate Thruster Battery R-25

I relocated the thruster battery from the aft compartment to forward of the bow thruster to improve forward/aft balance.

Shearwater for Sale

The Ranger is a "Classic" 25' trawler, ideally suited for a couple or small family who want to enjoy a day on the ICW, travel the "Great Loop", and anything in between. We crossed the Okeechobee Waterway several times, visited Key West, and went as to Jacksonville on our travels. She is easily capable of traveling Chesapeake or East Coast from Canada to Miami for an adventure or a yearly migration. Small enough to enjoy a lunch or take to the beach, the Ranger 25 is trailerable without a special permit and can be easily dry-stacked at any marina that accommodates fishing boats. She is completely self-contained with solar cells, refrigeration, a comfortable head and shower, a V berth and guest berths, and hot and cold pressure water. New interior upholstery, very clean inside and out, well equipped with US, Canada and Bahamas charts, RADAR, AIS (receive), air conditioning, generator and inverter - you can take off for a day of fishing, a week on the Chesapeake, or a month of cruising your home waters. Boat delivered in Florida with clean/new bottom, new wax, new filters and oil - ready to go! She is "Great Loop" capable with many sister boats having done the trip. Her 2.5' draft and 9' air draft and 8.5' beam mean very few bridge openings, no trailer permits, and lower slip costs. She comes with a period of slip rent in the Boynton Beach inlet area. The Walker Bay Sailing Dinghy shown is typical of the dinghy used with this boat but is negotiable as part of the sale. I'm planning to list her with a broker soon - save some commission and buy now!
